    Neurostimulation Therapy

Friday, May 21, 2010, 01:37 PM EST [General]

Hello-I need some advise.  I have a VA specialist that wants to give me a series of shots to try to stop some of the many pains that I have incured from a really severe one car wreck that I was in.  I am a RBK with a titanium rod holding my knee to my hip with a ton of screws where I smashed my femor-along with both hips broke.  Thats just for starters but everyone of you have such a history so I will make it short. Anyhow, he wants to implant that junk in my spine-Has anyone heard of this so called Neurostimulation therapy? I really would like to have some feedback from someone (not on their payroll) who at least might have heard of somebody having such a procedure.  Thanks loads if you can help me...Mike

I just want to say hello and God Bless-if you are on this website then you probably have been through hell and have come out the other side-or still coming out.   Just remember there are more out here like you and have gone through alot of what you have-just don't quit....

Thanks Mike...yes sometimes the pain is so bad I just think I'd be better off without the knee but when I get to the gym and it's not too cold and damp then I feel I can handle it so as you said...Wisdom from God is the way! As for me...I'm old school English from God's own Country (Yorkshire) as John Wesley called it! I had a bad night last night actually with a lot of jolts of pain from my stump...ever heard of nerve blocking as my Doctor mentioned it?...anyway after reading some of the problems people have with single AK amps I'll wait as long as possible before I actually look into another amp...that is one of the many blessings of this site...the voices of experience bring wisdom.

Yes It's crazy. My leg guy will make a socket while i'm there and I will be walking like crazy. So I take it home and the next day it wont fit. Its too tight then its too loose. Its painful then the next day theres no pain at all.

We just cant get one thats works. Its so aggravating.

    Hey Mike
Actually I type in American so you lot understand me okay...I'm English so my pride and humour sometimes stand up! But on the prosthesis...I have one I paid $9,000 for in Spain...titanium and carbon fibre with an inertia building foot...once I got it I realised my knee had got worse and after 15-20 minutes my knee blocked up and I had to remove it. Also stairs with a full amputation and a man who likes to MOVE!! made me want to scream. I used to have a simple otto block knee on a standard leg and it was great but my knee got worse and worse...I go to the gym now to build my knee but I even think about getting my other leg amputated at the knee and get a prosthesis for that one...seriously as i've been stabbed in that knee and operated on (badly) and it's really really painful.
    Thanks Mike and God Bless
