My husband and I are thinking of going somewhere with a beach this summer. My question is since I am a double amputee how can I manage the sand and water? This is my first summer with my prosthetics and I am at a loss. Any advise?

Hi Ann, Josh is right...:) Last summer I went to the Jersey Shore and we went to the town hall and asked if they had any sand wheelchairs for rent...they let me use a really cool chair for the whole week I was on vacation at no charge. It was made out of PVC pipe with huge plastic dune buggy type wheels....easy to push and great to maneuver..Just ask at the local town hall where you are..As far as swimming goes,I still have one leg above the knee so I'm still able to maneuver in the water with no problems,I don't know how it will be for you but just take it slow and obviously don't go alone...:) Have fun,Blessings of the lyrical kind,Cali Cali |

Yeah it's tricky....I've seen those wheelchairs that have the sand-friendly tires...
