    BKA Prosthetics

Looking at getting a new prosthetic and wanted something that will work for light running, jogging and fast walking.

Was wondering if any other Below the Knee Amputees have been doing these activities and what "foot and socket" they were using.  Any suggestions and problems would greatly help in my decision.

Being retired Military cost is not my top concern but comfort and usability is.  My other problem is my Prosthesis has never made a running leg before so this will be an experience for him also.  I have a "long" residual limb and would really like to start back on an exercise program now that I am approaching my 3-year anniversary.

Appreciate any help and suggestions you can offer.

    Thanks,

    Arlen

    New Grand Baby

Been a while since I was able to get on line.  We have been very busy around here.  The tax man brought us a very special gift.  A new baby.  Our oldest son and his fiancé had a baby boy.  Due to circumstances best left alone we had him living with us for a week and still have him occasionally.

What a joy.  This makes 5 grand children from our children and a total of 12 from blending of families.

I do have a question.  Have any of you experience a problem with your prosthetic causing circulation problems after gaining 5 to 10 lbs?  I have been experiencing "restless leg" like symptoms all the time since gaining about 5 lbs. and am wondering if it could be caused by my socket.  I saw my prosthesist today and have increased in volume by less than a quarter inch in a diameter.

Hope everyone is doing great and as happy as I am.

    Type at you later,

    Arlen

Thanks Arlen...I'm walking without the crutches now. It pulls on the skin a little bit. But the Prostetist is going to adjust it so it doesn't pull on the distal tibia right now. Thanks for the advice. It does hurt like hell sometimes though, but that's when I take it off and relax a bit. thanks again, Jimmy
