Dang it never stops
In February, a one-armed man swiped a single cufflink from the CJ Vinten shop in Leigh-on-Sea, England, and in March, a one-legged man swiped a single Nike trainer shoe from a store in Barnsley, England. The one-armed man is still loose, but the one-legged man was arrested. [Daily Telegraph, 2-8-10] [Yorkshire Post, 3-10-10]
Take a walk
Sometimes I just like to take a walk.
Sometimes at some weird hours.
Sometimes in strange places.
And it makes me feel special, fortunate, and causes me to appreciate little things that others just take for granted. I like to watch sunsets as my environment changes from light to dark. I take a deep breath and give thanks for the opportunity for another day. It causes me to take a look at things in a light that others miss. Have I done enough to merit my being here? What are some things I can change tomorrow to make a difference somehow in a positive way? Either in my life or someone I will have contact with. It makes no difference to me, because I got everything I need, plus!
Sometimes I just like to crawl.
Sometimes just to see what's down there.
Sometimes wanting more, but accepting less.
Forget a bout it

I woke up and popped out of bed for some reason right at the peak full!
Enjoy your day, it could be the start of something big! Don't miss it, don't blink too long, and pay attention. Today is a day you can never get back....
plantains
Been eating plantains a lot lately. I found them yesterday at 3/$1 at a flea market! I was paying .50 each!! They're full of potassium and since I don't eat bananas much this is my source. I fry them in a cast iron pan using peanut oil to obtain a higher temperature, sprinkle with a little salt and mmmmmm. I also had some foccaccio? bread sticks with some EVO and pesto washed down with some vanilla soy milk mixed with a little coffee and heated up. (It's my version of the latte)
Good morning!!!

| February 24, 2010 Centered and Safe Keeping Your Energy Strong
Being a sensitive person in this world can sometimes feel very draining due to the fact that we are very receptive to the energy of the people and environment around us. Still, we want to be part of situations that involve small or large groups of people, and we would like to do it without becoming overwhelmed or exhausted. With a few simple strategies we can entertain at home and socialize in the world without running the risk of losing ourselves in someone else’s energy or giving our energy away. All this takes is a little time and practice, and the result—being part of social events without ending up depleted—is well worth the effort. The whole purpose of this self-care ritual is to help keep yourself strong energetically when you are in a situation that could potentially be draining. For example, if you are having a party, you might take some time to prepare beforehand. Just as you spend time cleaning your home and preparing food, it is essential to prepare your inner home for the event. This can be as simple as taking a mindful walk or a cleansing bath, or engaging in any other activity that gives you energy. You can even just sit alone for a set period of time, tuning in to your energy and connecting to yourself so that you are less easily carried away by the energy outside of yourself. You may employ a mantra such as “I am centered and safe in the home of myself.” You can also charge a crystal or gemstone or any piece of jewelry with protective energy and wear it or carry it with you. This can be helpful during the event when just seeing it or touching it can remind you that you are centered and safe.! Keep in mind that it is always acceptable to excuse yourself for a bathroom break or to step outside for a moment. This can give you the time and space you need to check in with yourself and correct any energetic imbalances you detect. Whether you are at home or out in the world, taking care of yourself in this way enables you to keep your energy strong, even as you open yourself to others. |

Washed Away
About a year and half after my amputation my then current girlfriend talked me into going to the beach, the day after a hurricane had blown up the east coast. She was kind of a wild girl and we decided to go to the nude beach for a couple of hours. After losing my leg I didn't do walks on the beach very well at all, as most of you know, and after surveying the surf on the Atlantic that day I decided to stay up as high as possible on the dunes.
I spread out my blanket, fastened the edges down good from the wind, undressed and took my leg off to cover it from the sun plus get some sun on my poor white deprived stump. My girlfriend had walked down to the waters edge to get wet, I had my back turned to the ocean for a moment, as the wind and sun were strong, and I didn't even notice the big rogue wave that washed me away! What a shock it was! I didn't even expect a wave to reach up this far! And there goes my leg!!! It was being dragged out to sea by the receding waters as I tried to regroup myself and figure out what had just happened. "Somebody grab my leg" I yelled out, as a bunch of nude strangers looked around to see what the heck! It was kind of funny because it didn't go that far but scared me real bad, I felt so very vulnerable, laying there naked, wet, sprawled, out trying to gather everything. It was definitely a Kodak moment.......
