    Hi Everybody! What's a blog?

I saw this site advertised on tv this week. I became an amputee 3 1/2 years ago at Daytona Bike Week '04. I didn't make it there though because an 80 year old driver ran a red light and ended that vacation.

I guess it would be nice to chat with others about the new lifestyle. Things have adjusted well. I just have had a few issues with getting the, "You aren't the same person" story. I think I have a darn good attitude. I try not to dwell on myself. I like to accomplish something each day, happy hour being one of the most favorite, along with any type of exercise; kayaking, cycling, walking, etc. I have severe phantom pain that will never go away, but I'm used to it. So the toughest issue so far has been that I have no problem talking about my situation because I think it helps others. In doing so, close friends and family get tired of me being stopped and questioned so much. It has made me self conscious of my personality. Sometimes I just can't make everybody happy, and I strive to make people happy.

Believe me this had nothing to do with the south. I have been to every state and I love the south. This happens in my part of town too which has a lot of Indians as in India and Pakistanis.
I have not seen this with other national backgrounds. The lady at the drug store here and the lady at Subway both of Indian descent just came right out and asked.
People of Western European background would generally find that rude.
One amusing event at a Moscow hotel the worker there asked well not in English. I did the burrr routine shivering motion
Later I learnt the russian word for frostbite

That is awesome! You are officially on my list, and I'll keep you posted on any progress I make. My best friend is from SC, and Charleston is her favorite place. So next time I'm down visiting her, I'll have to let you know, maybe we can have lunch together or something.

Hey Dawn: Thanks for the information. It is greatly appreciated. All you folks make me believe that I have made the right decision. Although I was already feeling comforable that I had decided this was right, it is so nice to hear from you to ensure all will be ok. Really looking forward to golfing again and just having a lot of fun with my grandchildren.
    Thanks again.
