Allow me to pick some brains

    Thursday, November 1, 2007, 11:40 PM [General]

    Hello again.

I am having a few difficulties with my recovery, so I thought  I might try listing a few question I have and I welcome any and all suggestions and thoughts that some of you may have.

I am experiencing severe phantom pain and the pain meds I am on, wear off too quickly, is there any non-medicinal ways that the pain may be reduced until the next round of pills? And approximately how long  can I expect to go through the phantom pain?

Has anyone had a nerve block done in the neck and what was it like?

What types of neurological pain management is out there, and what meds seem to work?

Where do I get a catalog of sorts for types of prosthetics?

I hope to get a few answers soon because sometimes it gets hard to cope with.

Thank you to all who read this and have something for me to learn about.

                                                       hugs and kisses,

                                                                                     Dee

    Hello Everybody!!

    Wednesday, October 31, 2007, 01:35 PM [General]

Helloooo.... I am Dee. I am a recent amputee. My accident occurred on October 7,2007.I lost my arm up to the shoulder, I only have a 2-3 inch stump, I am hopeful they will be able to fit me for a prosthetic, but the surgeon is a little apprehensive about it.

I am hoping to make a few new friends and talk to people that have similar injuries and converse with me on what their experience was like and what things I could possibly expect throughout my experience. Although, I am not limited to talking to only those people, I enjoy talking with anyone who would like to talk about any problems and just about any subject too.

I am a very open, honest person with a really great sense of humor, nothing offends me at all. I have no issues with answering any questions and I also do not get grossed out easily, I have a small medical background which of course makes me a little immune to getting grossed out.

I hope to talk to someone soon, I am looking forward to making friends and hopefully, if someone is local, even meeting and hanging out. Take care all, and thank you for taking the time to read this. Sincerely, Dee
