MAN SOMETIMES IT CAN HURT

Tuesday, September 25, 2007, 12:15 PM EST [General]

My name is Paul, 55 years old, right amp at hip, a totally mangled stump has resulted in my never using prosthetics...not to mention the PAIN....after 27 years they told me, oh yeah, dam, peripheral neuropathy, they can HURT LIKE HELL...

Took almost 28 years to find someone who finally REALLY TREATED MY PAIN.  Not just throw a bottle of percs or vicodin to get you out of the office.  I have been doing much better, MUCH BETTER.  In a number of ways, it is like a new life...It has been a LONG HAUL and it ain't over yet.  I thank GOD that someone finally was able to make me feel like a human, and no longer spend the majority of my time with varying levels of misery\distress.

     Any other experiences out there???

    Paul:
I just sent you a reply about your note regarding crutches - and now see I ought have read your profile first. Didn't know tht you had never used a prosthethis - sorry. Obviously, crutches work fine without!
Man, you're really endured some pain. So far (just had the amp in June) I haven't had a lot, but the end of the stump is starting to hurt some, especially when pressure is put on it. But nothing like you describe. God willing I won't have to know that - wish you didn't.
    Thanks for your advice!
