Running Legs

    Thursday, November 20, 2008, 06:17 PM [General]

Does anyone know if there is a certain "clearance" for some of the better running legs like the blades?  My stump is unusually long, and I don't know if the blades require a shorter stump to be able to use them.

    Thanks!

    Perspiration and Working Out

    Thursday, November 20, 2008, 06:16 PM [General]

OK, you all may already know this, but I just found out some great info on sweat control at a Half Marathon this weekend (and yes, if I sound proud of the fact that I ran a half marathon, it's because I am).

First find which is cheap and easy is Certain-Dri.  It's a liquid anti-perspirant that you put on at night and it's the first thing I've found that actually makes any difference and I tried everything else.  It shrinks your pores so they don't sweat

Second, some of the other more hardcore runners said they get botox injections in their stumps because the botox closes off the pores altogether.  I haven't tried it personally and am not saying you should do it, but that's a suggestion if you're desperate

Hey Gwyn, I have my revision surgery on the 30th. The docs told me I would be off work for 8 weeks if all goes well. I'm pretty nervous

    Hi Gwyn,

It sounds like we have similar problems with bone protrusions. I am a double though, so my foot choices are a little easier because I have the option of just getting a little taller to make room! I stand at about 5'9" when I really should be more like 5'7"-5'8", surely not a big difference, but it does make finding pants a pain!

I work in field sales for a semiconductor manufactuer, which is really interesting for me because I see lots of our chips being used in medical aplications, including prosthetics. As for hobby activites, I enjoy reading and writing. My husband and I love to camp as well. We will be buying mountain bikes soon, so hopefully this fall and spring we will be able to get more active. I have had a myriad of problems the last couple years with skin that has made being active a challenge.

You mentioned that your skin issues had improved some lately, mind if I ask what has worked for you? I am in the process of a new design, and really desperate to fix this skin stuff...

    Thanks!

    Erin
