    Morocco

Sunday, June 27, 2010, 04:03 AM PST [General]

Morocco is a beautiful country. As a point of interest, I have found the people of this culture very respectful of disabled people. I have been blessed by strangers on the street and people do not stare. (They look, bless you, and move on... no rude questions or comments and they stand out of your way to let you pass.) I have traveled all over the world on one leg and this has been one of the most comfortable in terms of the people. They may not be set up in their ancient buildings and streets to ADA standards Americans are used to, but I have been treated extremely well.

Please >4 Community - we are also here to support one another!

Friday, April 30, 2010, 08:00 PM PST [General]

I posted this earlier about a new amputee who could use our support, and no one has posted to Sandy's site. She has Squamous cell carcinoma and had a Hemi-Pelvectomy 3 weeks ago. She could use some encouraging words right now. I notice many people here these days seem to post their own status/ situation, but rarely comment/give words of encouragement to others.... Really? Are we that self-absorbed? Why not start looking around the site at the other members and offer some words of encouragement rather than just look to get it from others on your own posts? Giving can feel as good as receiving if not better... try it!

    ____________________________________________________

    From 4 days ago...

Sandy's Mom asked me to thank you all for your support since Sandy joined Less Than Four just a couple of weeks ago after her Hemi-Pelvectomy. I have sad news: the cancer has metastasized. I have been talking with Sandy (pictured below) as a peer counselor and can tell you she is a wonderful, strong and very brave lady. She is still fighting on and determined to fight. Please email / post your prayers, positive thoughts and encouragement on her page (search "Sandy" under "People". Her Mom or Bro-in Law Dan will show them to her. I am humbled by Sandy's strength and am reminded to live in gratitude for every day I have on this earth.
