    Why I Love Wikipedia

    Thursday, August 14, 2008, 12:16 AM [General]

    Check out Wikipedia's defintion of Amputation. It's hilarious! They actually say in the body of the text: "Unlike many non-mammalian animals (such as lizards that shed their tails), once removed, human extremities do not grow back."

    It's pure genius!

    Fearless

    A nice quote from a poet named Rabindranath Tagore.

    Let me not pray to be sheltered from dangers, but to be fearless in facing them. Let me not beg for the stilling of my pain, but the heart to conquer it.

    SLEEP

    Tuesday, July 8, 2008, 01:18 AM [General]

    Just curious... did anyone develop sleep problems after their amputation?  If yes... what did you do to resolve it? I have had this issue for awhile, but kept blaming it on "other" stuff. Now I need to deal with it. I plan on getting a sleep study soon (thanks for the suggestion Markus!)  I wonder, if anyone here has any other suggestions? I am sooooo tired...

    Help.....

    Thanks!

    Left Foot Accelerator

    Tuesday, July 1, 2008, 05:07 PM [General]

    For those of you missing your right (like me) and can't drive with your prosthesis on (like me) there is an adaptive device that can be easily installed in your vehicle from Adaptive Driving Systems (888)595-3525. It costs just a little over $250.

    I can cross my left over to the right without a problem, but feel safer using my left accelerator. Just be sure to tell the valet or anyone else you let drive your car that the pedal is an accelerator - NOT a brake! (-;
