Hello all,
After 2 year with a leg that wouldn't heal, 3 surgerys, and constant pain, My doctor and I have decided to do a BKA. This should happen in the next couple of weeks.
The thought of being able to resume a somewhat active lifestyle is uplifting, but doesn't alleviate the anxiety. I've set my goals fairly high, perhaps not in my best interest! I'd like to be walking (proficiently) by spring, and riding my Harley by late summer. Too bold?
I've met with the Prosthestist, he assured me I would do well with my new leg. Easy for him to say, he's not an amputee! If anyone has any input or insight to my road ahead I would be thankful.
Jeff

Best advice I have as a new BK is stay positive and listen to your body. Trust your new leg and communicate everything with your prosthetist! If your in discomfort let them know! Good days or bad days it's all worth being here with friends and family! Good luck with your surgery. You'll be walking and riding your Harley in no time!
