I've only had my prosthesis since November...:) I did pretty descent... I fell a few times... but even people with two real legs fall ...LOL.... My calf muscle on my fake side was killin' me! I'm not use to using it as much as I did today. Whoo... Man I'm beat. I think I broke a rib. I went donw hard on my hand in my chest. Ouch! So anyhow. Anyone else out there go snowboarding with a prosty????

3 Comments - Leave a Comment
Sun, 02 Mar 2008 21:03:15 -0600Here I go again!! Another fitting!!http://www.lessthanfour.org/jimmymac/blog/2008/02/05/here_i_go_again_another_fitting
Well I'm heading down to the prosty shop once again tomorrow. I called the prostetist and explained the pain I'm having. I have a pretty profound calf muscle, even after the surgery. So he thinks the hard shell the pros has needs to be venstrated (sp?) meaning the hard shell needs to have a soft liner inside that can expand along with my calf muscle. What was happening was....every time I bent down to get something my calf muscle would stretch, then as it went back to settle in it;s original spot the fibula bone, I think , would feel like it's peirceing my muscle. OUCH!!!! It would almost make me fall it hurt so bad. I'm a tough guy, but damn that hurt!! So we're gonna take another bat at it. Hopefully this does the trick. I had to swith back to my old leg because of it. I liked the new leg. It's so much less bulky, lighter, easier to bend. It was a seal in suction, as compared to an outer suction sleeve. The alchohol spraying of the thing is a bit of a pain, but hey, I guess that's little to worry about to be able to walk. Anyone else out there have any of these issues? peircing pain?

0 Comments - Leave a Comment
Tue, 05 Feb 2008 09:34:23 -0600I figured this would happen!!!http://www.lessthanfour.org/jimmymac/blog/2008/01/31/i_figured_this_would_happen
Well I went this past Monday to the prostetist to get my new leg made. Casted, and fitted, all same day. the guys are amazing. It felt good. Fit good. The only problem is when I walk, the top part wants to flap back and forth. So I have to go back tomorrow to have another one fitted. this one will have to be fitted tighter in the top part of it. It seems as if on the toe roll and lift up, the top wants to flip, which causes a milking type effect on the distal end of the limb. I'm the first in Pa to have the new Iceross seal in liner. The one with five ribs on it. The old ones use to have one rib for seal. It seams pretty cool so far. I can imagine it will be good once we get the pros to fit correctly. It's just frustrating trying to get a comfortable walk. ONce I get a good stride going it starts to clap really bad. So I'll keep you posted as to the progression. I'm going tomorrow night after work. My guy is going to work a late night in order to get it done for me. What a guy! I havent quite figured outmy design yet either for this one. No tsure if I want another Harley design, or something else. Any suggestions?? :) Hope everyone is having a great day!

3 Comments - Leave a Comment
Thu, 31 Jan 2008 11:38:24 -0600BAck to the bloggin board....lol...http://www.lessthanfour.org/jimmymac/blog/2008/01/22/back_to_the__bloggin_boardlolWell I went to the prosty shop yesterday to have my leg worked on. They put 3 pads in a triangular type set up to take the place of the 18 plys of socks I was wearing. It's working ok for now. They are making a new socket for me this Friday. I'm getting the new seal in liner type. This will allow for more knee flextion, and less hassle to get it put on in the morning. Step in and go.... I'm also going to try and get the VSP foot for it. It's pretty cool! It has a shock absorber on the side of it. This will be awesome for hiking with the boy this spring. Also playing baseball in the spring, and summer. So the sock thing will start to diminish some. They said I still may need to mess with them some, but nowhere near what I was...Sheew, Thank God! That;s the biggest pain in the arse :) Well anywho....how's everyone else out there in Less than four world????
0 Comments - Leave a Comment
Tue, 22 Jan 2008 10:53:48 -0600Just bloggin'!! http://www.lessthanfour.org/jimmymac/blog/2008/01/18/just_bloggin_
Well I'm now up to 2 full 5 ply socks, and 2 half 3 ply socks. LOL... I'm going to the prosty shop on Monday to get some post offs put in so I don't have to wear so many socks. Hopefully that helps with some flexion in the knee area. So many socks have me bound up. ...... So how's everything going for everyone else out there today? Yesterday I celebrated my 33rd birthday!! woohooo...lol.... 33 isn't like any other birthday. remember turning 16, or 21, or even 25 to rent a car...lol....then there was 30....Now I guess we wait for 40...lol... My wife turns 40 in March. She doesn't look a day older than 28 though. It's the fair skin, and red hair..LOL....Hottie! I lucked out.... My son just turned 7 two days before my birthday.

So does anyone have any winter vacations planned?

5 Comments - Leave a Comment
Fri, 18 Jan 2008 14:10:39 -0600
