Things Amps Can't Do: Car Thief

    Monday, April 28, 2008, 04:42 PM [General]

If you have one leg (I mean really have on leg--I am not including BK's or low AK's here, because you have 1.5 legs), you can never become a car thief.

Think about it. You break into a car, get in the driver’s seat while the alarm is going off and all that, and then you discover, whoops, the car is manual transmision.

So you run away on your crutches, and then the cops come and interview the witnesses:

"So, brown hair, about 5'10", medium build...any distinguishing characteristics? Tattoos, for example?"

"Well, Officer, he did have...one leg."

And then, as all of us who have seen the "The Fugitive" know, you, the amputee, are screwed.

I don't think I could steal a car with a manual transmission and I have 1.5 legs. Maybe I'm just not trying hard enough.

Don't know that I can agree!

There was a clip that I saw not that long ago where a truck was pulled over by the police because it was travelling rather erratically. Ended up in a chase and when the truck was hemmed in, the driver took a dive out of the truck and tried to haul himself away on his arms! I don't recall if he was a double leg amp, or a paraplegic (I just remember his legs were useless) but it seems he was driving using crutches on the pedals....

If you REALLY want to do something bad enough, you will find a way!

Like the earlier comment, I don't think I could steal the car either and I have 1.5 legs. Being as tall as I am I had a hard time driving a manual transmission when I had 2 legs. Think my knee would still bang the steering wheel.

    Good story though.
