Check out this photo of a guy in Germany who had two arms attached to his stumps!  No joke!  This is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard of.

I also think it's a bit ironic, becuase as an amputee I am probably more reliant on my car than an able bodied person would be.  And I would guess that goes for all leg-amps.  You guys concerned about gas prices?

It's about people who suffer from "Body Integrity Identity Disorder," which causes them to want to cut off their own limbs.

The weird thing is, usually after they lose their limb (sometimes they bribe doctors to amputate for them), they like their body better than they did before.

Is that crazy or what?

By now you've already heard the story of Oscar Pistorius, the South African double amputee who was granted permission last week to try to qualify for the Olympics.  He still has to reach the qualifying times--which are one second faster than his personal best--but previously he was not allowed to try.

 Allowing him to compete was a controversial decision because there are those who argue that his carbon-fiber prosthetic legs provide him an advantage over the able bodied runners.

 WHAT DO YOU THINK?

If you have one leg (I mean really have on leg--I am not including BK's or low AK's here, because you have 1.5 legs), you can never become a car thief.

Think about it. You break into a car, get in the driver’s seat while the alarm is going off and all that, and then you discover, whoops, the car is manual transmision.

So you run away on your crutches, and then the cops come and interview the witnesses:

"So, brown hair, about 5'10", medium build...any distinguishing characteristics? Tattoos, for example?"

"Well, Officer, he did have...one leg."

And then, as all of us who have seen the "The Fugitive" know, you, the amputee, are screwed.
