Hi to all,
I've been an amp since 1977 when a boat prop ate my leg. I was so glad it wasn't my head! I was 40 and we were out on a really nice pontoon boat. We'd been skiing and partying. I didn't have to make any choices, the leg was gone!. It hasn't been hard for me, but what made it better was I returned to work after many years of being a labor/delivery nurse. I chose to work in a physical facillity. I became very proficient working with spinalcord injured people. I learned so much and made several life long friends.
Now I am transitioning, lost my husband in April and that has been so much greater a loss then any I've experienced.
Don't have any real problems with the residual limb, or walking. I'm thankful for a magically competent prosthetist.
Thank you all for letting me be a part of the group!
Peace, June
