Thanks James, sounds like you are having good progress. I am getting very excited, but a little worried at the same time, I guess you know what I mean. Wishing for you continued progress..and keep your fingers crossed for me.

    James,

The trip went great. The kids had a blast and though is was a bit of a chore to have to take off my leg to get into the pool, everything else was good. I wasn't mentally prepared to take on the beach though so I just avoided it....so I missed out on snorkeling in the ocean...I still don't know how I'll do
    that :-

But showing my prosthetic was the best way to go at the airport!!

    Hi James,
I think that you are right about this being a self-defense mechanism. But the funny thing is if it keeps us from doing something we want to do, then we have failed without trying. No attempt is a failure!

I think we need to work through the humiliating part, if it is being self concious (and believe me I go in and out of this too!). If I look at it as a challenge to overcome my mind's "excuses" I can get myself out there, and when I'm finished I feel great.

When we are worried about how others percieve me, I have to remember how I might view them if the tables were turned ... I'd think "wow, look at that guy without the leg" fantastic that he is in the pool."

The first time when I went back swimming and was worried, the first person I saw in the locker room came in assisted in a wheel chair and he was smiling and in good spirits. That really blew my "poor me I feel self-concious because I'm on crutches and one leg" mind chatter. Funny how life does that, isn't it?

Thanks for your thoughtful comment James.

Thanks James, I appreciate all the help I can get and am thankful for good friends. I am glad to see you up and around and will only suggest that you never allow a Podiatrist to trim any callous on your feet. Every time I do I end up with infections and this Doctor will be paying a heavy price for his lack of quality hygiene.

Take care and I will write soon...I have a story to tell about the near death experience I had at the Rehab because of another set of circumstances that could have cost me dearly. As it was they had to operate last Wednesday.

its alright, I've tried a few feet and its probably my favorite. It isn't too forgiving on the knee though. I've played squash, skated and ran with it and it went fine. Its funny though the pump on it is the same pump i use for my bike shock lol
