    About Me see introductory profile.
Music Lots of faves: Classic rock from the '50s to present(love the Beatles, Eagles, Stones, early Madonna, Buddy Holly), some C&W; great fan of classical music and opera too.
Movies Anything well made and entertaining. I'm a sucka for action, adventure, romance, comedy, well made horror films (not the usual slash and burn type) and historical epics. Also like watching films on TCM (Turner Classic Movies).
TV In no particular order: the offerings on History/Travel/TLC/Comedy/A&E and occasionally Food Channel, PBS ("TV only sometimes worth watching is NOT worth paying for." Sorry, PBS) and some shows on MSNBC such as "Countdown."
Books History major in grad and undergrad school; therefore, lots of history books and biographies. Love the original Ian Fleming James Bond books, American and European literature also.
Likes good food, great art and music, entertaining, well made movies, Cohibas, Cezanne, cabernets and cognac. Honest people (and people also physically/culturally different from myself).
Dislikes Any TV channel playing poker, so-called "reality TV" and any type of TV with contest elimination; dishonest, pompous people and lousy drivers (of which there are many in Houston).
Hobbies See books, TV, movies (including DVDs) and likes above.
    Vices See hobbies.
Virtues Could I get back with you on that one later?
Heroes My heroes ain't always been cowboys (sorry, Willie). The American soldier who risks life and limb daily for idiots and incompetents in Washington, DC. We need more people like Mother Theresa, M. Gandhi and Jimmy Carter. Honest, intelligent people with an excellent sense of humour.

    Introducing Me 1

Saturday, April 12, 2008, 06:09 PM CST [General]

I'm a first generation American of German (Prussian) ancestry, raised in Washington, DC, now living in Houston.  I am 6' tall (1.82 m), have blond hair, blue-grey eyes and a goatee.  I speak French, German, Thai, British and American English, some Spanish ...and Texan.  I have a wide variety of interests including, music, movies, art and art history, archaeology, history, religion, and sports. I work in the medical management area, currently as administrator of a diagnostic facility.  I am interested in people different from myself.  If I wanted someone like me, I'd go look at myself in the mirror.  That being said, I am also non-disabled and a GWM (GWM isn't necessarily what you may initially think).

thank you for your comments. all well made points although i disagree. my comments were not meant to address the morality of this particular war. sixty years ago had the 18 and 19 year olds had the same feelings as their current comtemporaries we would all be speaking german. this war has to be properly funded and equipped. however wrong the reason for being there, we can't just leave and we can't give our men and women pebbles and sling shots and expect them to win. it is easy to pick the big targets while congress consistently pulls the fast one while we are not looking. i'm talking specifically about the pork barrel spending that is attached to every damn law that anyone tries to pass. we have spent several millions of dollars to see whether fruit flys are allergic to hot sauce but can't appropriate funds for sick and injured veterans. you are right our priorities are screwed up. we attacked the tail of the snake and left the venomus head to strike yet again. i see your point and i understand it and thank you very, very much for your comments. i enjoy the dialog and keep lighten up them stogies.
