Harmony System (leg)

I am new to all of this, but I saw this on CNN and had to join. I have been an amputee for about 10 years. My leg was amputated due to a motorcycle accident. I was an athlete then and am still an athlete now at 27 years old. I have to tell you the reason for posting this. I played high school baseball 6 months after my amputation on a temporary, painful, prosthesis. It was HELL! I struggled with this. My fear was never playing baseball again. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I was the 10th best high school pitcher in the nation at the time of my accident. I played through the pain. I had numerous surgeries because I was over doing it on the types of prosthetics I was fitted for. I had a total of 24 surgeries in a 4 year period. One of which required a bone to be removed and my fibular head to be shaved. OUCH. I'll get to the point. I went to numerous Dr's that could not build a leg to save their lives. It seemed like they would grab one off a shelf like a pair for shoes and ask me to try it. I was an athlete. So of course, I said "yeah it's fine" just so I wouldn't have any extended down time. Hanger Prosthetics was the absolute worst. Sorry for name dropping, but they about killed me due to their inability to build a leg. I finally found Richard Boryk at UCLA medical center. He said "Trent, you will run when I'm done." I thought, here we go again. Rick was amazing. I have had at least 20 legs in the 10 years I have been an amputee. Yes, 2 a year. Maybe thats not a lot, but it seemed like it. Rick put me in the Harmony System. It is amazing. I had chills up my spine the first time I walked on MY LEG. It was like it came back. The Harmony system is a air type system. Every step you take air is pumped back into your socket. It reduces swelling and reduces sweat. Sweat was half my battle. As most of you know, when you sweat your prosthesis doesn't fit as well. This wasn't a cure, but made playing sports so much more enjoyable. It is amazingly comfortable. I have not had a sore in 2 years. I have not had another leg in 2 years. I have not broke an ankle in 2 years. AWESOME!! I play softball 2 days a week and can run faster than any other male on my team and Im right up there with most other males in the league. Keep in mind I am 6ft1 200lbs and out run some of these younger skinnier guys. It's not a tribute to me, it's a tribute to Rick at UCLA and his Harmony System. My wife says this is too long. So i'll leave it here and hope to get some response.
