    Will it get better?

Does this ever get better? I have been a bi-lat ak/bk amputee for 3 years now. It was a traumatic amputation, resulting from injuries sustained in Iraq. At the peak of my abilities on sticks, I am able to run and walk without aid, and I race triathlons to keep in shape. But with all of my apparent success, I am still only able to wear my legs for an hour or so at a time. I pride myself on an ability to ignore pain, so I know that it isn't just idle whining, it really hurts like a mother. I know my sockets fit correctly, so it just seems like I am better off sticking to a wheelchair, which I have to use anyways if I am going anywhere big, like a mall or school. I am alone here, or is this how it is for everyone?

Evan, First, let me thank you for your courage in going to war for us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hop ethings do get better for you. I met an AK - BK, the other day at my prosty shop. He seemed to be in good spirits. So I'm sure it can happen. What do you do for fun out there? I haven't yet been to Cali, but I here there's plenty to do. It sounds like a bit of depression setting in. Maybe talk to someone about it. Your doc, or even your prostetist. I know mine is awesome to talk to about that sort of thing. Well, if you ever need to talk, please feel free to write me anytime. Thanks again for being here. And doing what you've done. Your friend...

I'm not expert, but I would assume that it might be a result of your exercise (which you definitely shouldn't stop, because that's awesome... I've been an amputee for 10 years and I've never run once since). You should talk to your prosthetist. There might be something going on with the fit that you don't notice.
