    LEG Amputee from NYC

    Had bone cancer in 1987 as a result, I had my BK right leg amputated and undergone chemotherapy. I live in NYC born and raised with parents form carribean.

     

    I have been shy to wear shorts . I wore shorts at neighborhood gym but stopped. After going to my parents country that I decided to wear shorts in the daytime outside!!. People stared but I felt special and confident . I plan on buying more relaxed fit shorts for this summer.

    Marc,

    First I want to say I love the beautiful pictures you posted of Haiti.

    I know how you feel about wearing shorts. I love to wear dresses and skirts but sometimes feel less confident than other times. People stare or pretend not to look. As I have gotten older, I seem to care less...but at times it still gets to me.

    I have worn shorts once and didn't get out of car much, but I too feel special in them.The really nice thing is if you have to take your pros off it is easy. I have both legs so twice the fun. I think people look at me and wonder how the hell I walk so good. Also when I take a handicapped parking spot they don't wonder why.

    U go for it! & do buy more of those shorts.
    I wear mini skirts & shorts & i'm not apologising for it. I was shy for a crappy 4 yrs & my real leg got so pale...ppl stare bt then that's all, stares dnt bite
