Hey Jay, you've asked to be a friend.

Are you currently in the military or a veteran, and what service organizations do you work with in DC? I'm a 6 year USAF veteran and a member of the American Legion.

On a side note I was instrumental in the founding of the ACA when I was AAOP president.

In my search to help veterans with disabilities, I have come across a resource that may be beneficial to others in the amputee community. Check out the Amputee Coalition of America at www.amputee-coaltion.org.

Hey, I'm not disabled, but through the military and my current work with a major veterans service organization in Washington, D.C., I've come to know a few amputees. I would like to thank the military members here for their service and sacrifice and I also salute the rest of you for having the strength and courage to persevere in the face of the adversity your disabilities may have caused you.

I would also urge military service members with a VA disability rating less than 100% to seek the counsel of a veterans service officer who will review your case, and if necessary, provide you with advocacy and representation through the VA appeals process -- all for free. Contact a major VSO (DAV, AMVETS, VFW, or American Legion) for a service officer in your area, or shoot me a message and I'll connect you with someone who can help. Again, it's free service provided by people who really value your service and care about your well being.
    Semper Fi,
    Jay in Washington, D.C.
