Has anyone with a below knee amputation ever had problems with their calf cramping up when you are walking around? I've been getting this a lot and we can't seem to solve the problem. Right now I have a suction cup socket, but I have had the same problem with a pin lock years ago. Any thoughts?
upset stomach, and human decency?
I moved on Satruday from my apartment in Newton MA to a place in Watertown MA. Two of my friends from the area were also moving close by, so I helped them move a lot of their stuff and they let me use their truck to move my matress. Basically, I started at 9 in the morning and finished around 7 at night. I spent all day with my big blue water bottle, just filling it up at every stop and drinking tap water heavily all day. It turns out a water pipe broke in Weston or something, and everyone east of that area has to boil water first in order to drink it. I sure wish I knew that earlier..
At about 7:30 I went to Target in Watertown to pick up a small table. The whole place was in chaos. At the checkout counter the cashier was surpised I wasn't buying water. He says, 'don't you know about the water? you can't drink it.' At this point I had no idea why, so I was like, 'of course you can drink it silly, i've been drinking it all day!'
At about 11:30 that night my stomach started to make some weird noises, and I started to feel pretty sick. I think most of it is out of me now, but all yesterday and last night was miserable. The waters not that bad, I'm sure a little bit won't effect you at all. But I pretty much drank 5 or 6 bottles full and ate nothing during the day.
What amazes me is how people were acting at target. Keep in mind, this water problem won't last more than a few days. Also, all you need to do is boil the water and it will be fine. There is no shortage of water. That point is so important I think I'll repeat it in all caps. On its own line. With a few exclamation marks for added effect.
THERE IS NO SHORTAGE OF WATER!!!
Yet everyone went out and bought as much water as possible. Target looked like what I imagine the beginning of a zombie appocolypse would be like. People were fighting over the water in the small refridgerators at the end of the cashier isles because the store ran out of water cases. I mean literally fighting, like punching and shoving and whatnot. When you hear stories of people behaving like this, you usually get a mental image of what these people might look like. And these images usually look like the people you find on www.peopleofwalmart.com/. Whats dissapointing is that the people fighting last night looked nothing like the humerous 'people of walmart'. They were just normal people. I can't even imagine the horrible things people would do to each other if this were a real emergency.
I guess I just don't have a lot of faith in people..

Hi Jeremiah!
DebWow, your story is incredible...and far from boring. I have been an amputee for roughly seven months, and just recently learned of this website. I thought I would give it a try, and am so happy I did. Meeting people in similar situations is such a comfort. Thank you so much for sharing your story, and I hope to read many more! You are truly an inspiration to me!
