I could use some advice and feedback on lyrica.

Saturday, May 1, 2010, 06:28 PM EST [General]

I have made the decision to stop the pain meds that I have been taking for the last allmost three years.  For a long time now I have been taking what most would consider large amounts of pain meds.  Im aware of the challenges ahead of me.  I was going to stop the opiates and still take the gabapentin.  When I met with a new doctor this week he advised me to change out the gabapentin for lyrica.  I dont think the gabapentin is doing all that much ,but its hard to tell with the amount of oxycodone I have built up too.  I would appreciate feedback on your personal success or failures with lyrica.  The big question that has been kicking around my head is the birth defect warning for males.  Im trying to make sure that there is no lasting damage over long term use.  Im young and recently married.  We have been together for 11yrs, we do plan on a family in the future, I would hate to do anything to effect that future.  Any and all feedback would be appreciated  on, or off topic.

Do employers need to know ?

Wednesday, June 24, 2009, 08:34 AM EST [General]

First off hello all.  I am new to the site, I am sure this topic has already been discussed. I looked thru a couple of pages ,but not all.  I am a recent rbk.  When I do make my full recovery and return to work will I have to disclose that to a new employer before being hired ?  Before my accident I was a lic hvac service tech.  The work was demanding.  I dont now if I will be able to return to that type of work.  If I can perform my job do I need to tell them?

    Mike -

You should never consider yourself handicapped just a little inconvenienced at times. But in legal terms you would have to be marked as handicapped. This is because inorder to walk you require a cane, brace or aid. If you are equally qualified for a position as another applicant and can complete the required task it should never become an issue. It may be that the company doesn't even ask your handicap status and if they do it should not come up until after you have interviewed and been offered a job.

BTW, it is pretty crazy that we share new life days.

    Best of luck to you.
