    Paintball players?

    Sunday, October 21, 2007, 11:14 AM [General]

Any of you played or are currently playing paintball?

I have played for years and was playing the CFOA tournament league this past season. I am hoping to recover enough to play again this season. Even if I cannot play at that level again I will be playing again. I am a paintball addict and can't get enough. Strong part of my will and drive to recover, lol.

This is a pic of myself and some of the team hanging out at our tent between games at Dixie Cup last season. This tourney was put on at Classic Paintball in Lithia Springs, Ga.

    Hello, new to the site

My name is Martin. I am 36 years old, married and have two children age 15 and 10. I have been married 15 wonderful years. Yeah I know...do the math...anywho. I never knew just how wonderful my wife was before this happened, but I am getting ahead of myself.

On August 17th of this year I was coming home on my motorcycle and ran off the road into a ditch. I am not completly sure what caused the accident, I have no memory of anything about a mile up the road before it, to the moment of the accident itself. I can remember that, and of course at this stage am just learning not to think about it. My going to have a few drinks with a friend after work didn't help. I was not legally drunk it was later found, but ANY amount distorts judgement. I have since quit drinking, but that is also another story.

I  ended up with a broken right ankle, left elbow, wrist, left knee, and the worst was that my Tibia was broken and missing 4 inches of bone at the ankle. My heel and ankle were crushed. My calf and foot were left dangling off the bone. I subsequently underwent 12 surgeries over the course of 4 weeks. The experimental procedure that attempted to repair my left foot failed and with other complications I asked the doctors to amputate it. With the recent advances in prosthetics I felt like it would be my best bet.

I am trying my best to keep a positive attitude about the whole situation. I know that the Lord has a plan for me. Although it seems like its going to take forever at the moment, I know that I will look back on this later like a blip in time. If all goes as well as it has I will be released to see into my prosthesis in 3-7 weeks.

At any rate, I am glad I found the site. I look forward to asking some questions, sharing some experiances, and getting to know you.
