Hello,
6 days after my 21st B-day I was riding my motorcycle to Fort Gillium to go into the Air Force. I was riding down a long hill when this lady in a Ford F-150 ran a stop sign and struck my left side while I was riding at 65 mph. I struck her bumper with my left leg and flipped across her hood then on to the ground and slid 60 feet. At first I didn't feel pain and was over powered by anger. As I sat up, I looked down to see that one of my shoes was missing exposing my foot, as to which it was bleeding from road rash. I couldn't see my other leg due to the over sized pants I was wearing, 80 inch bottoms, Jenco baby. I then looked at my hands and saw that one of my riding gloves was missing also. I took off the other glove and went to take off my helment, which saved my life. When I was taking off my helment strap my hands started to shake very violently. I got the helment off and about that time the pain had hit me with the force of....a truck. About that time this guy came behind me and cought my head as I was falling back in pain. He looked at me and said that "This is going to hurt like hell" , and turned my left leg back around. After that I was very awake and not in shock to the dismay of the EMTs'. I was put on to a streacher and put into a EMT transport vheical. They then took me out and put me in life flight and flew me up to Grady Hospital, the best trama in Georgia. I remember everything about it and all the pain that went with it. They then put me in Emergency operation and tried to stop the bleeding and fix what they could. I found out later that I had was almost dead when I got to the hospital and was fading fast. If it wasn't for the two off dutie paramedics at the sceen when it happened, I would be dead. After 3 months and 13 operations later I was released from the hospital to go through 1 year of recovery and pain. I am now here, alive and well.
