First things first, I'm not an amputee yet but have been diagnosed with melanoma. Sounds simple enough, a little skin cancer, just scrape it off and everything will be fine, right? Wrong.
After meeting with an oncologist and discussing treatment all I hear is amputation.
This is where I cannot believe it. Has anyone else ever heard of this being so serious?
I can't believe basically a blemish can lead to losing a leg.
Has any one else here suffered from it?
I just dont believe this will happen .
Anyway if it has to happen i want to be around a bunch of people who are ordinary or regular people who dont see this as a disability. I wont be disabled.

I know that melanoma is very serious. I had cancer too, bone cancer in my femur. I've heard melanoma is dangerous if it spreads to the lymph nodes. I guess yours is very deep? I guess they are worried about it spreading and amputation would be the surest way to accomplish that? I would get a second (or even third) opinion. Your main goal is to kill the cancer and live...whatever they have to do to accomplish that will be secondary. I would just make sure you are 1,000% confident in your doctor because having that faith in your doctor is key to beating this! You sound like you have a good attitude...and you are right, you won't be disabled no matter what happens!!! Good Luck, keep us posted.
