    Your Disability Bi-AK amputee
How long have you been an amputee? 10-20 years
How did you become disabled? Car wreck
What type(s) of prosthesis do you use? Hanger/C-Legs
About Me I am a 37 year old (time flies when you're having fun) living in the Kansas City metro area. I work as a probation officer for the State of Kansas as a investigator for our judges. Fun field to be in, but can be frustrating at times as well. I have a wonderful wife that has supported me through every challenge I have faced and done it with a smile. I started using prothesis about a year and a half ago as the ones i tried right after my accident were simply to uncomfortable to wear. I was doing fairly well for about a year and then got discouraged and stopped using them about 6 months ago. I am working up the strength to take a second stab at them and try to "get on my feet".
Music Country, metal, grunge, new metal, world, you name it. If it has a beat, i will listen to it.
TV 21/2 Men, Prison Break, Family Guy, How I met your Mothr.
Books Flashman series. More magazines lately than books.
Likes Being around positive, good hearted people who can enjoy life no matter what it throws them.
Dislikes Constant laziness in people or those that are always negative.
Hobbies Wheelchair racing, in marathons and for leisure. Guns, love to shoot as well as a certified instructor for conceal/carry. Oddly, cleaning(wife loves that part), hanging out with friends around the BBQ with cold beverage in hand.
Vices Expect "perfectionism" from myself, so when I don't do something "perfect" I get discouraged. Have to work on that.

    Getting Started

I have been reviewing the site for some time, but just finally got around to setting up an account.  It's always good to read on different people's experience's as an amputee as it seems that everyone has slightly different experiences which are helpful to others in networking. I look forward to meeting others as time goes by.
