    xmas and all that!

hello there anyone who reads this : )

i'm feeling sooo much better after my previous blog. thanks to everyone who wrote encouraging things. the latest is that i do have to surrender my knee. my prosthetist is fantastic, its otto bock unfortunately. it was a trial knee and it is also a bit faulty....i wouldnt have even known...how do you ever know what is 'normal.' i asked that they gave me til the new year and we are going to get me an ossur knee and hopefully a running leg. it means an extra $6000 which i will probably have to rob a bank for, but this is my LEG!! its worth it.

in australia, we have a public health system. if you need medical care ( emergency ) it doesnt cost anything, but you get the basics. we also have private insurance, so depending on your level of cover, you can get anything within reason. eg. when i had my motorbike accident, technically i was in the wrong, even though i was blinded by the sun, and i did not have private cover...so....all of my hospital care was covered by the public health system ( you pay $300 a year at tax time for this which includes all doctors visits etc ) but i only get a 'basic' leg every 3 years. i pay extra to have a better foot and now a better knee. the public legs are great if i were maybe 60 plus, but im only 30 and love doing fun sports...

i think in america, maybe if you dont have private insurance...bad luck?? am i right?? thats rough!! i have to remember how fortunate i am ( even tho i secretly would kill for a c leg )
so, im in better spirits and its the holiday season and all.

i want to wish everyone a safe holiday season whatever you celebrate.. i personally am not religious, we have xmas, but its all about family and friends and having a great time..oh yeah, and seafood on the bbq and white wine.....: )

stay safe, dont drink and drive...and love the ones you're with...
