I have been an amputee for almost 16 years; my current prosthesis is a little over 2 years old. It has been causing me an extreme amount of pain and has limited my abilities for my regular daily functions greatly. Having my prosthesis on for more then 8 hours a day has made it almost impossible for me to attend my classes and work. I am a (BKA) below the knee amputee and the end of my limb is getting most of the abuse. At the end of an average day for me (8am-11pm) my leg is swollen and recently has been bleeding and excreting pus, I am fearful of infection at this point.
My doctor, Jonathan Day, whom I’ve been seeing for more than 10 years, has recommended that my prosthesis be replaced at this time. As a child I was on Medicaid state insurance and that took care of my medical needs. Now that I am of age I have been told that I am no longer covered under my mothers plain. I did apply as an individual and was denied. I was told that as a single student with no dependent children that I did not meet their criteria for any assistance.
I am currently a fulltime college student at
Does anyone know where I can get help???

Hai Kim Looks like you have been neglecting yourself.Your stump should not be hurting unless your prothesis is ill fitting. For years even I went through similar problems. Until I found a very good limb fitter in India. I am from Sri Lanka. Kim you should not suffer NOW with all High tech stuff around. If you were near by I am sure i could give you a hand. Look for people... most of ALL , PRAY that God will help you & guide you. Johann
