    A question about equipment

Monday, January 7, 2008, 09:23 PM EST [General]

I saw a news segment on CBS news about a new robotic leg. Does anyone know any information about it? Or has anyone experimented with it? I would love to give it a try. If anyone knows the manufacturer I would be more than happy to be a guinea pig for them. I probably use my leg more than nayone else with my travel and work schedule. I'm on my leg for an average of 18 to 20 hours a day.

    Know your rights

Saturday, December 8, 2007, 01:29 AM EST [General]

I am having an unbelievable experience with my workman's compensation insurance company. I have finally torn a hole in my rubber sleeve that I wear on my leg. I went to my prosthetic doctor to get a new one and the authorization was turned down by the insurance company. Evidently some new person at the company found a place that offered the equipment for a cheaper price, and denied approval. Meanwhile I am walking around with equipment that doesn't fit right and am in alot of pain every time i take a step. This has gone on for about a week now and even got to the point where the insurance co. called me trying to convince me to change providers. I have been dealing with the same people, Maryland Orthotics and prosthetics for 18 years now and have gotten nothing but superb service. God forbid I would be comfortable, so that the insurance co. could save a few bucks. The bottom line that is in the state of MD the insurance co. cannot tell you what doctor or supplier you have to use. it is YOUR choice, so after the adjuster was convinced I wasn't changing providers they gave in and authorized the equipment. Make sure you know what the laws are in your state or town. Don't let insurance co's push you around, because they will try.

In other news I will be in Monterrey Mexico and Stockton California next week, and I just found out that I will be going to Columbus Ohio to do the Ohio St./Umbc basketball game on December 28th.

    On the road again

Monday, November 26, 2007, 01:05 AM EST [General]

Another busy week coming up!! But it's all fun because the teams i cover are doing well. The Blast are now 5-0. I will be in Detroit Thursday and Friday to do their game against the Ignition. Then it's back home for a game against California on Saturday night. A day of rest on Sunday before the big Ravens vs. Patriots matchup on Monday night football!! Wow I hope the Ravens don't lose by 40!! You know what though at 4-7 this is their Superbowl. Who knows maybe they will pull off the upset. Then it's off to Wichita next Tuesday for UMBC basketball vs. Wichita State. The retrievers are coming off maybe their best win in program history knocking off GW 89-79 last Saturday. The Retrievers led by as many as 18 in the second half. This team is going to be fun to watch this year. Stay safe everyone, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. Maybe I will see you on the road.

    Carolina in one day

Thursday, November 15, 2007, 01:03 PM EST [General]

Man I hate getting up at 4 am. but the trip to Carolina was worth it. I had a chance to see Bank of America stadium for the first time. The Panthers luncheon was great. I interviewed Mike Rucker, met Steve smith and Colin Branch, and Tim Biakabatuka's speech was fantastic. Then I jumped back on a plane and headed back to Baltimore.

BTW the Blast are now 4-0. Next game is Friday night at 8pm. You can listen to me at www.baltimoreblast.com or you can watch the game on the fox soccer channel. Hey if you watch it turn the sound down and listen to me. we do a much better job on the radio LOL.

Big weekend, Saturday I am off to Richmond to call UMBC mens basketball. the retrievers are 2-0 and they have a legitimate shot to win their conference and go to the NCAA Tourney this year. UMBC and richmond play saturday night at 8 pm. you can hear me at www.umbcretrievers.com. wow another shameless plug. Finally Sunday is the Ravens vs. the Browns. I would like to tell everyone how good the Ravens are playing but unfortunately they are struggling mightily right now.

Upcoming trips to Detroit on NOV. 29th and Wichita on December 3rd. I can't believe Im going back to Wichita, no offense to the people from Wichita but long trip not a lot of things to do.

    talk to everyone soon.

    Orlando was incredible

Sunday, November 4, 2007, 08:37 PM EST [General]

The Blast are 3-0. They took care of business on the field 17-6. Then we went out and celebrated. It was a great time we went to the big belly bar and closed the place down at 3 am (extra hour for daylight savings time) Many thanks to andy who took care of us all night, and the afternoon guy on 105.1 FM in Orlando, my friend Jeff Cushman. It's great to know people when you go on the road. I am getting way too old for this stuff. When we got back to the hotel we ran into Joey Fatone. It was a rough plane ride home but it was well worth it. Next stop is North Carolina for the Ed Block Luncheon. I will be down in Charlotte on November 13th.
