    Happy Holiday Season!

Monday, December 7, 2009, 02:19 PM EST [General]

So, last year my mom told everyone that she didn't want anything for xmas, and the family was all stupid enough to believe her. Even my dad held off on getting her something special, and got her some nice wool socks. The steriotypical HORRIBLE gift right? It was even worse cause the gift I got for my dad was something close to 500 dollars (even though it was a combo xmas/birthday/fathers day gift.)

So, this year, when we were having the family talk about what everyone wanted for xmas/hannukah (mixed religion family,) we were all ready to ignore my mom when she said, "oh, you don't have to get me anything, I'm just happy that we get to spend the holiday together." But, turns out SHE learned something from last year too, cause as SOON as the question was out, she yelled, "I WANT AN IPOD!" It was awesome! It gave me something I knew she wanted that would make her really happy. Thing is, I know my mom, she wasn't expecting one of her kids to get her the best Ipod out there, and my dad told her then and there that he had already gotten her a gift. It has to do with an international trip that they are taking, but he won't tell us anything beyond that.

So, I set out to get an Ipod that would BLOW her mind! Went straight to best buy and took a look at the Ipods. (I use Ipod in the way people say kleenex instead of tissue, I wasn't just looking at the Apple Ipods.) I wanted to REALLY make her year, especially since she was the one that fought for me tooth and nail to have every tiny little comfort that I needed or wanted when I was in the hospital for my chemo. She was the one who kept things organized, the one who made sure that every night that I was feeling lonely, someone was there to spend the night with me, (often times, it was her herself, and sleeping on the couch in a hospital room isnt exactly comfortable.)

Right away, I knew that I was going to get her either an Ipod touch, or a Microsoft Zune. Only the best for my momma. I myself already have an Iphone, and I gave my sister an Ipod touch for xmas this year. (Not a new one, mine that I got the previous year, I'm not made of money here people :-p) So, based on this, I decided to get her the Zune, and I picked up an FM transmitter/car charger to go along with it, so she could plug it in whilst driving (35 min drive to work for her,) and listen to her music on her car's radio sound system.

Now, I am HORRIBLE at waiting long amounts of time after purchasing presents, I almost ALWAYS want to give them early. But in this case, I had an excuse! In order to get the Insurance that I knew she would want, she only had a short amount of time to take the Zune in! So I made her open it around November 15th, and she friggin flipped out haha. Said it was the best "want" gift anyone has ever gotten her in her life. She was actually scared to own something that nice, because she was scared it would break. It was one of the newest Zunes, with the touch screen, that are slim and sleek looking. Took her back to best buy to get the insurance, and had a ton of fun showing her how to put music on it with her laptop.

It's stuff like this that really makes xmas an extremely enjoyable time of year for me. It's almost an obsession of mine to get my family members something that will REALLY make them smile. I hate the, "oh yeah, thanks" reaction!

Anyway, I hope you all have a wonderful holiday, and get to make those around you happy in every way possible. It's this time of year when you really remember how important your loved ones are.

    Happy Holidays!

Soccer Round The Clock on the news!

Monday, August 24, 2009, 12:53 PM EST [General]

We got the DvD of the news story from soccer round the clock, so we were able to rip it and post it on youtube! I hope you all check it out!

(Although I wish it had been a little bit more about Sarcoma and a little less about me >.<, People listen to stories about the inspirational cripple a lot more than just the info-mercial on cancer.)

Great news clip on your story Logan! I think it's important that they focused on Osteosarcoma and that you are raising money for research. My cancer, chondro-sarcoma is also a forgotten cancer which is why it is usually misdiagnosed for years.

You looked awesome out there playing soccer! You have great balance and will be able to do many sports. I just surfed and loved it.

    Hi Logan,

Welcome to the group. I had chondro-sarcoma and had a hemipelvectomy after 4 recurrences. I started a group here called Less Than 1% for Hemis and Hips since we are rare among amputees with our own unique issues. I like your outlook.. very uplifting. Thank you.
