Hi everyone!  Well, things have been much better for me since I finally got out of the hospital!  My infection is gone and my incision is healed completely.  Here's the deal...I went for my "try-on" today for my first prosthesis, and it felt much weirder than I had expected.  It was kind of painful when I put my weight on it.  Is this normal?  I didn't really expect it to "hurt"...it wasn't awful pain, but pretty uncomfortable.  I guess it just takes some getting used to, huh?  Anyone who has time to write me back on this subject and tell me your experience with your first prosthesis, I would really appreciate it.  I get the finished leg/foot this Wednesday (in just two days).  I'm really excited, but a bit scared now too.  I will look forward to hearing from you.  Thanks a bunch.

I would say that "takes some getting used to" is an understatement, especially for someone who just lost a limb. It's pretty uncomfortable at first.

Hey Ronda....I'm Jimmy, pleasure to meet you. I will tell you when I got my first pros. It definately felt wierd. It took me about 2 weeks of walking with crutches. Then one day I was here at work, and I got up to do something and walked to the machine I was heading to without even thinking about it. It was awesome!! then I grabbed my uncle to walk with me, and I walked all the way across the shop here. So ever since I've been up and goin'. the other thing you will encounter is shrinkage, and sock fitment....ugh!!!! read some of my blogs on that one...lol....Talk to you soon. Good luck!
