Today is Wed., Jan. 23rd and I finally brought home my first prosthesis. I have posted a couple of pictures, as I am very proud of it. I spent hours searching for just the right material to put into it and love how it turned out. Aside from the cosmetics, it seems to fit well and for my first time ever walking on one, I think I did pretty well. It does feel strange and a bit uncomfortable, but it seems to get better with each hour that I wear it. Gosh, I'm so excited that I'm finally "up" again...it's been 4 months in a wheelchair/crutches. Thanks to all of you who have sent encouraging messages (especially Ben & Jeff)...you guys have no idea how motivated you've kept me these past few months. Thanks, Josh for this amazing site.
Hi everyone! Well, things have been much better for me since I finally got out of the hospital! My infection is gone and my incision is healed completely. Here's the deal...I went for my "try-on" today for my first prosthesis, and it felt much weirder than I had expected. It was kind of painful when I put my weight on it. Is this normal? I didn't really expect it to "hurt"...it wasn't awful pain, but pretty uncomfortable. I guess it just takes some getting used to, huh? Anyone who has time to write me back on this subject and tell me your experience with your first prosthesis, I would really appreciate it. I get the finished leg/foot this Wednesday (in just two days). I'm really excited, but a bit scared now too. I will look forward to hearing from you. Thanks a bunch.
Well, I had some pretty serious complications after my last blog. Developed a severe infection at the surgical site. Spent over two weeks back in the hospital and had 3 more surgeries!! UGH! Needless to say, it set me back on the recovery time, but I'm getting much stronger day by day now and looking forward to getting my first prosthesis soon. I see the Dr. on Jan. 17th...hopefully, he'll give me the thumbs up on starting with the prosthesis and I'll be back up running around very soon. Anyway, I just thought I'd jot down an update since it's been so long. I hope this finds all of you doing great and looking forward to the new year! Take Care.

I just want to post a quick note to say a big Thank You to everyone who has given me some encouragement, prayed for me and/or thought about me and my family during this difficult time. We truly appreciate it and I know for sure that it is helping me with my recovery. You guys are all amazing people and I'm proud to be a member of such a wonderful group. God Bless each and every one of you.

Ok, it's finally over and done. I am recovering comfortabling at home right now...I really DON'T like being in the hospital! The doctor said it was "textbook perfect"...I guess it can't get much better than that. I have been feeling really good emotionallly...I'm actually happy it's gone. I hated that part of my body, and I'm surprisingly happy that it's no longer therte. I"m feeling pretty good...not much pain right now. I have two portable pain pumps that are delivering anesthesia so my leg is pretty much numb....it will only last about 2 more days, so I worry about the pain then. Ok, I have to go for now...really tired. Thanks for all of your support and prayers...you have no idea how much that means to me!!
