    Wasted Week

Tuesday, October 23, 2007, 12:46 PM CST [General]

Well, just learned another lesson the hard way. I've got to quit listening to Drs. I wasted a week of my life by checking myself into an inpatient rehab hospital for prosthetic therapy. Why would I put myself in the hospital when I don't have to be there? Long story short, it was a waste of my time, I'm not any closer to walking than I was when I went there. I am obviously going to have a major problem with my "good leg" since I had that surgery in August to save it I can't walk but about 100 feet with my Prosthetic on using a walker before my left foot and ankle swell up and get major pain, it turns into a "cankle" and then I'm dragging it. I guess it's going to have to heal alot more before I can attempt this therapy to learn to walk. Anyway guess it's a good thing I'm getting pretty good with the wheelchair. Hope everyone's doing well, have a good one!

    Got "IT"

Friday, October 12, 2007, 02:15 PM CST [General]

Well I got the leg yesterday. Prosthetician gave it to me, showed me how to use socks then I put it on and walked back and forth in the bars about 10 times, removed it sat in the wheelchair and carried it out of the office. Came home and put it away in the bedroom not to be seen until Monday when I go to the therapist to be evaluated. I hate the look of the thing, it looks like a mannequin leg to me with all the foam and tanned ortho socks on it. I wanted the robot look, when I was being fitted I asked the prost guy what kind of leg I was getting and he said "a fake one" and that was it. When I get the definitive one I will demand no foam and I want to get something airbrushed on the socket. That will be up to a year from now though. Oh well, I can look like a "doll" until then I guess. Good day everyone.
