Hi,
I am not sure what to expect from this site. I came across it quite by accident. I am slowly finding my way around it.
I had my accident on June 9th of 2007. It is nice to say LAST YEAR. HA!
I was riding my Harley Low Rider on a beautiful day. There were 5 of us on bikes. We were coming into town taking the long way home. We were going down a hill to a stop stop and a semi that was lost was coming down the same way, next to us. The load shifted and it broke it chains and it came crashing down on me. A 56,000 pound track hoe. It rolled me around and we came to a stop in the gutter. My right leg was pinned to the curb by it. It had ripped all the flesh off, tore open my main artery but when the track hoe pinned me it shut it off again. God wan't through with me yet.
I was pinned that way,, face in the grass for 45 minutes. My left leg was cut across my knee and they thought I was going to lose it too. I didn't. It was badly damaged but it was saved. I can tell you the weather each day and if it is going to rain or not!
Anyway I was pinned and no one knew how to drive the trackhoe to get it off me. they tried numerous things and finally found someone to move it. I was air e-vaced to Iowa City and had marvelous care. While I was there I had 7 surgeries. I was there for 20 days then moved to Cedar Rapids. I did PT there and finally got out on July 17th. I had skin grafts taken off my good thigh and you can see them in the photo's too.
I am now still healing but walking with just one cane now and can wear my leg for about 6-8 hours with out to much discomfort. I have had a marvelous group of friends to help me and the prayers and support has helped me get so far. I could not hav done this without them. I feel truely BLESSED! I was fit with a new cast last week for a new socke as mine has become just to big for me. My stump has shrunk so much. I am looking forward to that too.
Please share your stories with me. I miss being around people. I am in sales and am not used to being on down time.
Happy 2008 I know it will be a good year! All my good things have happened in even years!!
God Bless!
