    Been awhile

Wednesday, October 8, 2008, 01:37 PM CST [General]

I have not been on this site for some time and I hope that everyone is doing well or doing!

Life has just been happening and I had a great summer. Went up north to do some fishing with some friends and had a blast. But mostly I have just been working and living.

I have a new leg since the old one was getting to big and I was wearing to many socks. I now have my new one and they made to molds of it and put my running leg on the second one so it is perminent now. I feel lucky to have such a great prosthetist and crew and great health insurance.

Running more and learning as I go along how to run farther without stump damage or pain.

I have for the most part figured out my skin and what it responds to when I blister and how many socks are good and how many "strangle" my limb. I am getting it and it will be three years on the 18th of this month. I am proud to be who I am and I do not apologize anymore. I figure it out.

To all...be well and figure it out!

I'm just glad you are so strong Lisa. Your strength is an inspiration. If anyone says anything less - IGNORE them!

Hi Lisa: I am doing so much better. I am now appreciating "no more pain". Today, I tried and passed my driver's license with no added device. I felt like I was a teenager again trying to get my licence. I am walking quite well, without any aids. Outside I use a cane because of uneven ground and we have snow and slush here. Thanks for the note. I enjoy hearing from all of you.
    Thanks again Lisa.

Lisa: Thanks a million for your confidence. You are right, the pain is gone, and I will do my best to keep on going in the right direction.

The only time I think about it is when I've got pain or it hinders me in something I'm doing. Or in the spring when the bikes start coming out. Granted I can ride but it would be a problem for my wife. The fear of getting another call.
Hope you have a happy thanksgiving.
