About Me 59 years on this planet, single / divorced, two grown daughters and four beautiful grand kids!
Music Most anything - country, rock-n-roll, Latin, Reggae, soul and soothing. If a group better than the Stones has ever been, I don't know what it is.
Movies Wide variety except horror / slasher stuff. Faves? Saving Private Ryan, Message in a Bottle, The Notebook, Fried Green Tomatoes, The 300, Blackhawk Down.
TV Seldom watch, but when I do it's Discovery Channel, History Channel, or Military Channel. I'd rather read ...
Books Geez, got so many I can't even began to list.
Likes I like thunderstorms and puppy breath. I LOVE motorcycles and most anything with an engine. Like guns and shooting them, but oddly enough I don't like hunting. Camping under the stars, cooking a new Thai dish, or wandering a museum or antique shop.
Dislikes Drunks, headbangers and the music, boastful bores. Meaningless chit-chat, self-absorbed movie "stars", people who equate money with a successful life.
Hobbies Travel - by motorcycle - reading, collecting unique antiques, keeping family history.
Vices Smoke - damn it, wish I could / would quit! Don't drink.
Virtues Honesty, self-awareness, compassion, and humor.
Heroes I'm not really sure of this. Many people I respect and admire, some great in the public eye, some great in the eyes of their family or friends only. I hope we're all heros to someone during our lives.

Thanks to all who answered my post about crutches. Everyone agreed, Fetterman is the place to go for these -  which I will do.

    Advice about crutches, anyone?

    Monday, October 15, 2007, 10:23 AM [General]

I'm considering getting crutches to aid in mobility. Using a walker is just cumbersome and slow.

I need lightweight, collapasable if possible for travel purposes. Within the the next few months I will hopefully be back riding a motorcycle - trike version. I need something to use when I get off, something that lets me walk without the prothesis and is very compact, portable.

I'd appreciate input about the pros and cons of forearm vs, underarm, shepard crook vs. straight underarm support, etc. Also, any advice on the models that fold up into two or three sections? Are they sturdy? I weigh about 190 lbs, so they must support that weight at a minimum.

     Advice, anyone?

    Jim

    Hey Jim,

Just thought I'd say hi. We seem a lot alike in that I like motorcycles, shooting but not hunting, etc. Relax, I'm not hitting on ya! 3x Divorced!

I lived and worked in WPB from 2001 to 2002 driving a Customs patrol boat out of Boynton Beach. We lived in a lovely (not) area on Okeechobee and Haverhill. That was always interesting.

I hope all is well and wanted to tell you to keep on biking. I have a buddy over in ME, I'm in NH, who keeps begging me to take his 1981 Yamaha 1100 Special out to put a few hundred miles on it. Maybe I will now that it's nice a cool up here.

    Take care,

    Don
