About Me I am a 42 yo Heterosexual single white female retired physician with severe osteoarthritis who had a TKR (total knee replacement). The TKR got infx (infected) and after months of IV Antibx and losing the TKR and having NO KNEE at all in my leg (talk about gross) for about 8 months I had my second TKR which also got infx after a secondary wound closure and I became septic and it was an emergency choice of life or limb. I chose life. I had my AKA (above the knee) amputation on 5.15.06. I learned to walk again after being in a wheelchair since about 2003 permanently and then I developed a spur on the distal end of my stump which necesitated another surgery a revision of my stump to remove the spur which we found out came from the linea alba of the amputated femur. I took a long, long time to heal (over 6 months) for the wound to close up properly, and I got my new prosthesis and by then the bone was coming through my skin again. I am at that point again now. Totally wheelchair bound again.

I also have severe sciatica and RSD/CRPS (reflex sympathetic dystrophy/complex regional pain syndrome) and my L side hurts extremely bad if even air touches it. Such is life huh?
