In the summer time, when I wear shorts a lot, the most common comment I get is some variation of "Looks like you do pretty well with that."

What's the most common comment you get?

We, the amputee community, need a hero! Okay, that’s a little too dramatic, but we do need someone passionate about owning a business, someone passionate about design and function, someone passionate about…shoes. Yes, we need a new company with shoes designed specifically for amputees. Here’s what brought this idea on, it’s raining like crazy where I live, so I continually see the girls walking around campus in rain boots. I’ll admit it, I’m jealous! I want some cute rain boots with stripes or some other unique design on them. Enter the challenge; I can’t put one on my left foot. Granted, I’ve not actually tried yet, but I do know it would be far more trouble then its worth if it is even possible. What I need, is some cute rain boots with a zipper down the side. I’m sure this isn’t the only shoe challenge I’ve had, or will have. It just got me thinking, we need a company that can specially design shoes, and maybe clothes too, to provide the style we all want, with the functionality we all need. What do you guys think? I know I’d buy from a company like that. Maybe one already exists and I just haven’t found it yet! All I know, is I want some cute rain boots, that I can actually wear. What do you guys think?

I always think, hey I haven't posted a blog soon, I should do that, so then I go to post and I can't think of anything to write...pretty lame for a self-proclaimed writer, I know.

I suppose I should talk about my latest leg update.  I've had the c-leg for awhile now, and I absolutely love it!  I've only had the battery die once, haha, that was early on I forgot to charge it for three days straight.  But I've gotten to the point where I am super comfortable with it now, I even wear my high heels every now and then, and I feel way more confident in then than I ever did with my other leg.  Major love for the c-leg.  The only thing I wish I had for it, was some kind of water proof cover.  My brother got me into hiking, and the area where we go hiking has a lot of creeks we have to wade through, and I want to have the stability of my c-leg when I'm trekking through the hills and woods, but I need something that I can still just walk through the streams.  The last time we went hiking my brother carried me across two streams, total gentleman of him, I know.  So, who's with me on starting a petition to have Otto Bock create some kind of water proof cover for the c-leg for hiking and similar recreation purposes?! 

On another note, I am also in the process of getting one of those life-like covers!  Super excited, possibly the most excited by the fact that they are letting me have two legs!  One for me to have the cover on, and one so it still looks like my way cool robot leg!  If only I could get my treasure map socket back, it would be perfect!

Anyway, that's about all I can think of right now.

Yep, it's been eleven years and nearly a month since my amputation!  Hard to believe its been that long!  But at the same time, I barely remember what it was like before.

I think the biggest evidence of the time passing is the amazing advances in the technology!  Eleven years ago I started out on the newest and greatest knee out there!  Last year I found out that knee is know "crap", and now, I'm on a rockin awesome new knee!  Amazingly, there's already technology out there that goes beyond what I have.

I can't wait to see what the next eleven years have in store for me!
