I am a 41 year old amputee looking for others

    Friday, November 23, 2007, 08:59 PM [General]

Not much really to say about me.I have been an amputee for over 12 years now. I lost my leg to complications due to a self inflicked gunshot wound when I was 16.After 15 operations I made the choice 16 would be the last. Little did i know  I would need more. I am An active member of ABATE of Ga.(AMERICAN BIKER ACTIVE TOWARD EDUCATION )Dist.7.

I am here looking for others amputees someone that can give insight , who has dealt with the same things I have, someone I can talk to when I am having trouble or feeling self pity.Someone else who has been scared to be in pubic when they are in so much pain that they can hardly walk without screaming in pain.

Anyway that is all I'm gonna say for now.If you would like to know anything about me just ask.

my name is Joey if you happen by this page, stop and say hi

Hi Joey! Welcome to <4! ABATE? When you get a chance, I would be interested in hearing more about this group! My cousin also lives in Georgia, and just wrecked his Harley last week (car cut him off.) He won't lose his leg, but will be having more surgery to repair his knee. Have a great weekend.

i was just thinking joey...even though u went thru 15 surgeries...the decision to be amputed must have been really difficult. c i had it easy, in ma case i woke up from a coma 6 weeks after ma accident 2 feet shorter and 60lbs lighter.

I also am an LBK due to a gunshot wound. I chose amputation as surgery number 3 because I had no heel left and wouldn't be able to walk very well anyway.

Most days are good for me. I've only been at this for 3.5 yrs and am still shrinking. The only problems have been due to shrinkage and sock management.

    Hey bro,

Do you ride a motorcycle. I haven't rode one for many years but would like to get back into it.

Remember we are all here to help each other and hold each other up. All you have to do is ask us or just say hey.
