Hi Theo, how you doing today? Its been a good one here, I'm just cooking dinner [chicken] had some time to kill so thought check in see how you doing. I had the final lamination done on my stump socket today, meant I had no leg all day! I live about 10 minutes drive from our limb centre, it is based at our top spinal injury hospital. I also go there for swimming and gym, its a great set up. I am there most days of the week doing either weights or swimming. Its good I like the company of the other guys when I am there, it also makes you appreciate how fortunate you are being around people who are often faced with never walking again. Anyway I better keep moving with dinner, have to go and get Michelle from work in half an hour.

Hi Theo, I am now three months post surgery, I am not yet able to go solo on my limb, I am getting around on it with the aide of elbow crutches. I am probably not a good example, this is due to me having RSD, because of this I heal slow. I have also been on crutches for six years, in this time I had not been able to use my bad leg at all so I have alot of muscle and joint deteriation to deal with. Basically no strength and lots of pain in residual limb. However it improves everyday, and I have no regrets at all about having the amputation, today I am 100% better than I was three months ago. From what I understand, those who have not had these issues to cope with tend to be up and going on their new limb within six weeks.

Hi Theo: Thanks a million for your memo. I do feel good about my decision, however, I just now want to get it over with. The part that I am having a problem with, and getting my head around is waking up from surgery minus my ankle/foot. After that it is one day at a time to recover and get my old self back. You mentioned that you are waiting for surgery but no date, does that mean that you are waiting for a date or waiting to make the final decision. Fortunately, my waiting time was not very long...approximately 4 months and all of a sudden it is here.(oct.18). My hubby is a contractor and we have known a few persons that have had serious injuries from a scaffolding collapse. It must have been just horrible. Let me know when you will be having your surgery as it sounds like our amputations will be very similar. Keep positive as I am trying to also.

Hey Theo, just checked out your pics, looks like you have an awesome family, I am sure they are great source of encouragement for you. Your art work is tremendous, are you using this gift to support the family?
    Stay strong.
