Report User Hey my story is I was in a car wreck in aug 2007 my foot was on the break and knee got stuck behind the steering wheel on impact crushed the knee down broke my leg in 15 places. Since then I have had 11 surgeries 2 affixures and tibia would not heal. So in Sept. 2011 I decided that it was time for the amputation. The doctors told me there was nothing else they could do so i could live with not be able to walk on my real leg and be in so much pain or have the amputation and use a prosthetic and be able to walk. they did inform me of phantom pain but I didnt relize that it would hurt way more then the pain i had before the surgery. I just found out that my left knee which is suppose to be my good one now needs to be replaced because i have put all my weight on it for the last 5 yrs. So i am hoping after i get that fixed i will be able to walk with my prosthetic.

Hi My name is Joanne.I had a car accident in 2003 broken both legs and arms they had pop back in my hip I had to have my right knee done because I fell out off the tub I was still try to heal from other surgery but I have had a lot of surgery done with my legs and right foot which don't have any more but when you was saying that your have problem with you good knee/leg I was like oh god because I am starting to have the same problem I am so not look forward to find out either if I would need surgery.I have had my amputee done Jan 24 2011 and I am walking with a crutch I get so frustrated when I would see other that walk without a walk or crutches so then it make me wonder if I should get that knee check out who knows it might help me but am tried of have some much surgey had over like uhm 48 surgey so can kinda have an idea why I don't want to have it check out,But good luck
