Hey my story is I was in a car wreck in aug 2007 my foot was on the break and knee got stuck behind the steering wheel on impact crushed the knee down broke my leg in 15 places.  Since then I have had 11 surgeries 2 affixures and tibia would not heal.  So in Sept. 2011 I decided that it was time for the amputation.  The doctors told me there was nothing else they could do so i could live with not be able to walk on my real leg and be in so much pain or have the amputation and use a prosthetic and be able to walk.  they did inform me of phantom pain but I didnt relize that it would hurt way more then the pain i had before the surgery.  I just found out that my left knee which is suppose to be my good one now needs to be replaced because i have put all my weight on it for the last 5 yrs.  So i am hoping after i get that fixed i will be able to walk with my prosthetic.
