on sept 15 2008 while riding my motorcycle to work i was hit head on at 55mph by a 19YO kid in a 1993 gmc pick up. upon impact the bike swung around and crushed my left leg in between it and the brush gaurd, then it threw me about 80 feet and i weighed about 375lbs ( i am a BIG guy). i took out a few tree branches and a fence then finally came to rest in the creek bottom. First thing that went through my mind was "i AM STILL ALLIVE !" then i tried to get up and couldnt, thats when i noticed that my left leg felt diffrent. i couldnt see it since it was early morning and the sun hadnt come out. i slowly ran my hand down my leg and just about the time i got to where my knee was it just dropped off. I didnt know how bad it was, thought that maybe it was just a big chunk missing, but i did know there was an artery that was in there some where, so i tried to take my belt off to make a tourniquet. i just couldnt get my arm loose from the fence that i had got tangled up in. long story short people stopped,police and ems arrived then care flight. woke up in ICU two days later.

afterwards found out that the kid that hit me had no drivers license, registration,inspection or INSURANCE. then found out the reason he came over into my lane was that his steering wheel came off in his hand. he had been tring to install an aftermarket steering wheel on it over the week end but couldnt get the old one to come off the splined shaft so he opted to not put the retaining hardware back on it. he spent the night in jail then dissapeared. he never came down in the creek to check on me. on the investigators report it stated that when the police had gotten on sceen the driver was setting on the tailgate smoking a cigarette.

almost forgot to mention that i ended up loosing the left leg above the knee, broke my back,shattered my right arm,and crushed my left thumb. i had to have 12 surgeries on my stump due to infections from all the dirt and junk that packed into my leg when i landed. my stump is really ugly, kinda looks like a shark bit my leg off
