    About Me
lessthanfour.org/wolfjam In 2004 I was involved in a serious motorcycle accident resulting in the loss of my right leg below the knee. Obviously this was a life changing experience. Thankfully the people around me made it easier. My wife stuck by me and took care of me through the worst of times. My 11yr. old son who was 8 at the time played a huge part in my recovery. He went to rehab with me and did my exercises with me and wanted his Dad to play with him the way I did before the accident. He was my best motivation!! My twin brother Jason was seriously effected by this as well. He is the closest person to me in the world. Before this happened we were models and dancers under the name of Vision Of Fantasy(maybe you heard of us) Im proud to say that since the accident I have continued my modeling and dancing. Heather Mills isn't the only one HAHA!! My best friend Larz made sure that I continued rock climbing as well. Im very fortunate to have people surrounding me that wouldn't let me feel sorry for myself. I still do what I used to do just in a different way. I hope that I can be an inspiration to all people with disibilities. Life is what you make of it so do it right because you never know when it can change!! br />lessthanfour.org/wolfjamMySpace Layouts

    I Rode a Jet Ski

    Sunday, July 27, 2008, 09:06 PM [General]

Check this out, I went on a jet ski, the kind you gotta kneel or stand on, not the kind that got a seat on it. Anyway, I got on this thing thinking that it would be no problem to pull myself onto. Didn't take into account that my prosthetic might get caught on the edge. So i get out on the water and get going. Try to pull myself up, my socket gets caught on the edge no big deal, I try again, socket gets caught. At this time everyone is watching me so I say to myself that im getting on this thing. After about 10 minutes of trying I finally get on it. YAAAY!! Im cruisin along in a somewhat kneeling postion hittin waves, jumpin, just having a great time. All of the sudden I feel a pop coming from my socket. No sooner did I let off the throttle and turn around, the socket breaks suction and goes into the river. So I think for a second 25000 dollar leg or 1500 fixed up jet ski. LEG!! Im goin for it. I dive in not thinking I got a life jacket on, so it is slowly sinking because the foot floats but the socket don't, im swimming as hard as I can to get this thing. Finally I see the foot right in front of me about 8 feet underwater I reached for it grabbed it and luckily was able to pull it out of the water.
Talk about almost having a heart attack. If I'd have lost that leg I'd have been PISSED!! Then I had to swim over to the jet ski which luckily had been circling me the whole time. I ended up riding that thing in, laying on it with my prosthetic under me. All and all i had a blast, next time Igo though, im putting a floaty of my prosthetic!!

Hey wolfjam (if that is your real name :)
Thanks for writing...for a guy, I can see that it would be better without the cover...I have a lot of people tell me that they can't tell that it's not my real leg...but then again, they may just be trying to be nice...hmmmm...I've only been w/o my leg for a year, so I'm still struggling a bit I guess...it's hard to go from being a pretty decent looking female to something that is definitely not pretty...the focus goes to my leg now...can/do you still ride your motorcycle? trish

I hope you can resolve it because it will get quite expensive at $12-15K a pop. I'm getting ready for leg number 5 in just over 4 years. I hope the need lessens, but for now I have to go by what Mr. Stumpy dictates and he says that this socket is too big. I'm going to look into a new foot also as this one is over 3 years old. It's a Renegade and I like it a lot, but I want to try the new Perfect Stride foot. I'll see it more closely at the ACA conference.

    Good Luck!!!
