Check this out, I went on a jet ski, the kind you gotta kneel or stand on, not the kind that got a seat on it. Anyway, I got on this thing thinking that it would be no problem to pull myself onto. Didn't take into account that my prosthetic might get caught on the edge. So i get out on the water and get going. Try to pull myself up, my socket gets caught on the edge no big deal, I try again, socket gets caught. At this time everyone is watching me so I say to myself that im getting on this thing. After about 10 minutes of trying I finally get on it. YAAAY!! Im cruisin along in a somewhat kneeling postion hittin waves, jumpin, just having a great time. All of the sudden I feel a pop coming from my socket. No sooner did I let off the throttle and turn around, the socket breaks suction and goes into the river. So I think for a second 25000 dollar leg or 1500 fixed up jet ski. LEG!! Im goin for it. I dive in not thinking I got a life jacket on, so it is slowly sinking because the foot floats but the socket don't, im swimming as hard as I can to get this thing. Finally I see the foot right in front of me about 8 feet underwater I reached for it grabbed it and luckily was able to pull it out of the water.
Talk about almost having a heart attack. If I'd have lost that leg I'd have been PISSED!! Then I had to swim over to the jet ski which luckily had been circling me the whole time. I ended up riding that thing in, laying on it with my prosthetic under me. All and all i had a blast, next time Igo though, im putting a floaty of my prosthetic!!

That would be scary. I don't blame you for going for the leg. They are way too expensive to lose.
NealI have a friend who uses an empty 24oz pop bottle duct taped to the leg for floating. He says it's just enough bouyancy to keep it afloat if it comes off.
Great that you had a good time. I wish I knew someone who had a boat or jet ski. I would love to get back into water sports. We've been hitting the 100 mark here so the water would feel good.
